Family Peace: step-by-step guide to the “I am well” button

Family Peace is a feature of Vera Personal (50 € a year). Every person you set up gets a page on their phone with one large button, “I am well”, and presses it within the interval you have chosen. When the button is not pressed, VeraAlert sends a reminder to the person and, once the grace period has passed, informs by email the trusted contacts you have named.

VeraAlert records only the press and the time of it.

Family Peace checks only at the times you set. In an emergency, call 112.

What you need

  • A Vera Personal subscription and an account at veraterms.com.
  • The email address of the person, where the invitation goes.
  • Optionally, up to 3 trusted contacts for each person, with name and email.

Step 1: you set up the person

  • Sign in and open Vera Personal (veraterms.com/personal, or “Open Vera Personal” in the notification settings).
  • In the box “The person who presses the button”, fill in name, e-mail and language.
  • Interval in days: how often the button is pressed, from 1 to 30.
  • Grace period in hours: how long VeraAlert waits after the deadline, from 1 to 168.
  • If the button is for yourself, tick “This is me”.
  • Tap “Add”.
  • In the box “The people who get told”, add up to 3 trusted contacts, with name, e-mail and language.

VeraAlert informs the trusted contacts only after a reminder has gone out and the grace period has passed.

Step 2: the person accepts the invitation

VeraAlert emails an acceptance link to the person. The person opens it, reads what is going to happen and taps “I agree”. Until then the status reads “Waiting for acceptance” and no deadline runs. You can also send the link yourself, from the same box (“Acceptance link”).

Step 3: the person puts the page on the Home Screen

After “I agree” the person sees the button “Open my page” and a reminder to add the page to the home screen of the phone. This way the button opens with one tap, like an app.

  • Android: in Chrome, open the menu (three dots) and choose “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”.
  • iPhone: in Safari, tap Share and choose “Add to Home Screen”.

The same page is available in Vera Personal as the “Button link”, for anyone who needs to open it again.

Step 4: notifications on the person's phone (optional)

The button page has a small button, “Turn on notifications”. With it the person's phone shows a notification when the time has come. The reminder email goes out in any case. On iPhone the button appears only when the page is opened from the Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later).

Daily use, for the person

The person opens the page and taps “I am well”. The page confirms with “Recorded.” and that is all. The next deadline is the interval, counted from that press.

What VeraAlert does when the button is not pressed

  • At the deadline: an email reminder to the person, and a notification if the person has turned them on.
  • After the grace period: an email to the trusted contacts, saying that no press has been recorded and giving the deadline. VeraAlert does not know the reason.
  • If the person presses later: an email to the same contacts that a press has been recorded, with the time.

Pause and withdrawal

The pause is set per person (“Pause”, “Up to and including”, “Start pause”). While it lasts, VeraAlert sends no reminder and does not inform the trusted contacts. When it ends, VeraAlert counts on from the last press. “End pause” ends it earlier.

“Withdraw” stops Family Peace for that person.

History

The “History” box lists the latest events for each person: invitation sent, acceptance, press, reminder, people informed, and the notice that a press was recorded.
